About Sentinel

Sentinel is a company with a clear goal: we offer water treatment products and services that provide the best lifetime protection for heating and hot water systems. Originally launched in the UK by Grace Dearborn in 1988 and subsequently a subsidiary of the leading multinational General Electric, Sentinel has operated independently since 2005, expanding its international reach and range of innovative solutions. As of 2021, Sentinel is owned by Aalberts N.V., and sits in the hydronic flow control cluster.

Innovation

The story of our innovation is filled with firsts, from the pioneering of the practice of Jetflushing back in 1998 to the development of the world’s first multi-cyclone central heating filter, Eliminator, in 2012. Recognised as a UK market leader, we are justly proud of this reputation for innovation and new product development.

Our product offering has developed to address the needs of both domestic and commercial central heating installers and engineers, strengthening our range of products for traditional boiler systems, and expanding into products for renewable energy systems and potable water systems. We also have a number of products in our range developed specifically for specialised markets, such as Germany.

International growth

The international expansion we have undergone since 1988 is also a point of pride for us: today, we have operations in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, and a number of Scandinavian, Eastern European and Asian territories. Our goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of water treatment for domestic, civic and small commercial systems, not just in the UK where we began, but to relevant markets right across the globe.

Industry partnerships

We are recognised and endorsed by the leading suppliers of heating and hot water systems and associated components. Throughout the years, we have developed strong working relationships with many of the largest brands in the plumbing and heating industry; in the UK and internationally, in both the domestic and commercial heating sectors. From the first boiler installation manual which recommended the addition of Sentinel X100 Inhibitor to the more recent development of our online SystemCheck services, we have been working collaboratively with manufacturers to raise awareness of the role of water treatment in full lifetime system protection and in maximising heating efficiency.

Our people

Our success is down to our field based customer support teams sustained by the dedicated staff at our headquarters in the North-West of England and at our international offices. We recognise that many of our potential customers are not yet aware of the major benefits of water treatment. We aim to work with industry partners to lead the growth in awareness and are committed to develop the best training and communication tools to support this initiative.
