SUMO FROM SENTINEL – REDUCING THE SCALE OF THE PROBLEM

As water treatment specialists, we at Sentinel are delighted to bring our first water softener, the high-efficiency, non-electric and compact Sumo unit, to the UK market.

Having successfully sold the Sumo in France, we have now made the Sumo available to UK customers, to benefit from the technology and advantages that Sumo offers, to installers fitting the product and homeowners suffering from hard water issues.

The technology employed by Sumo is in keeping with our historical focus on energy efficient products; using metered softening and regeneration, therefore using less salt and less water, saving costs on salt consumption and increasing efficiency.

Further cost savings can be made as Sumo is non-electric and does not require a power source.

Regeneration is carried out in 11 minutes, minimising down time and the unit’s bypass function allows for simple installation and maintenance. Fitting is made easier due to the compact size of the unit, for straightforward siting under a sink, for example.

Sumo is WRAS-approved, meeting the stringent standards for drinking water set out by water regulations in the UK.

65% of the UK is affected by hard water, with tell-tale signs of hard water issues including frequent breakdown of equipment that heats water, boilers that are noisy when firing, poor water pressure, and crusty build up around fixtures and fittings.

Many householders and facility managers do not realise that they are paying more as a result of their hard water. Limescale can be expensive in a number of ways:

  • Energy costs: Just 1.6mm of limescale build up can cause a 12% drop in heat transfer efficiency, meaning that equipment has to work harder to heat water up
  • Repair or replacement of appliances: In hard water areas, shower heads and kettles need replacing more often. Appliances also tend to break down sooner than expected
  • Prevention costs: Whilst protecting against the build up of limescale is cheaper than the costs of not protecting against it, certain methods can be costly to maintain
