SENTINEL COOKIE POLICY

This Privacy Policy was last modified on May 23rd, 2018.

Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer, table or mobile device when you access our website.  They are not harmful to your devices (like a virus or malicious code).

HOW WE USE COOKIES
Like many sites, we use "cookies" to collect information and to help provide you with an improved customer experience. Their most common use is to identify whether or not you have been on a website before, which items you looked at and if you placed anything in your basket but did not go through with the transaction.
When you next log on to our website, your computer, tablet or mobile device's stored cookies will send a message to our website to let it know you have been there before. This is why you may notice your basket contains the items you last put in there without buying them , or similar products to those you have purchased in the past pop up as side adverts.
We have set out brief details of the cookies and similar technologies we use together with an overview of why we use them. To understand the table it is useful to know the following:
cookies have a lifetime. Some only last until you close your browser or a short time. These are called 'session cookies'. Some last longer though, for example, to allow a website to recognise you when you return to them. These are called 'persistent cookies'.
cookies placed directly by a website owner (like us) are known as 'first party cookies' and most modern websites also use technology provided by other people/businesses. Cookies placed by other parties are known as 'third party cookies'.

Performance cookies What are they? These cookies collect information about how you use our websites, for example which pages you go to most often and if you get an error message. These cookies are used to improve how our website works

HOW CAN YOU MANAGE COOKIES?
If cookies are enabled on your computer, tablet or device, it means you are able to enjoy a full browsing experience. Allowing cookies to run means you can access the full features of our website. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our website.
Many cookies will be 'session' based, which means when you close your browser, they are removed. These cookies are primarily to help retain information when navigating around the site, for example the cookie 'has_js'. This is a fairly common cookie that can be utilised by websites to quickly check if the user has JS enabled. The behaviour of the website can then be altered, should the user not have JS.
Other cookies can be 'time-based', where they last for however long is specified by the cookie. These cookies will remain, even after closing the browser. An example of this can be found within YouTube (including embedded videos) - the volume control is remembered from the last time you set it.
The main way to see what cookies are enabled and to manage cookies that are set on your computer, tablet or device is through adjusting your web browser settings. To manage cookies on your smart phone or tablet please refer to your user manual.
