REFRESH YOURSELF: WHY TRAINING PAYS OFF

Whether there are warnings of gale force winds and snow on the ground, or a clear blue sky and sunshine when you wake up this morning, Spring has officially arrived; and with it, the dreaded Spring Clean.

Despite the daunting, long-awaited clear out of old, abandoned clutter, it creates space for what the new year might bring. Studies have proven that the act of de-cluttering positively impacts your focus and productivity; isn’t your life that little bit simpler when your van’s tidy?

So why not apply the same rule of thumb to your work?

Setting time aside to attend training courses gives installers the opportunity to increase technical knowledge and customer satisfaction. Simply put, attending a quality training course is investing in yourself as a heating engineer. It allows you to improve or expand upon your knowledge of the products and services that you can offer to customers, introducing new revenue opportunities and it may even save you time and money in the long run – outweighing the initial cost of missing a morning away from work.

“Training has become instrumental in the development of a heating engineer,”

Ella Cooper, Technical Support Manager for Sentinel.

She continues:

“although experience counts for a lot in this industry, taking the time to further your own learning allows you to stand out as a professional. It ensures you deliver your best work on the job and retain a solid foundation of knowledge that you can relay to your customer, whenever it’s needed.”

Get into the swing of the new season by ramping up your industry knowledge, and refreshing yourself on handy hints and tips in water treatment, in order to get the best out of every heating system that comes your way this year. In an industry growing more competitive year on year, it can be hard to find a way to give yourself an edge against other installers. Attending a course gives you a unique opportunity to shape your expertise in specific areas of the heating and plumbing industry.

Take steps to stand out from the crowd

Ready for the Spring season, we’ve developed the Partner Programme; a new, hands-on training course to refresh your memory on all things water treatment. Approximately 87% of boiler callouts are to systems without correct water treatment - which is linked with early pump failure and radiator inefficiency. Wouldn’t you like to know more about why these common-place problems crop up in your heating systems and what exactly you can do about it?

Our Introduction to water treatment course looks to tackle such questions, with the idea that once you fully understand what’s going on in a problematic system from a water quality perspective; you can relay this information more coherently to your customer.

At Sentinel HQ, we offer two rooms dedicated to training both domestic and commercial heating engineers, ensuring we can provide training for all different types of business. With the centre increasing in popularity, The Builders Merchants Federation awarded Sentinel with Centre of Excellence status in 2017. In attending our on-site training course at the Sentinel welcome centre, you are given the platform to meet other industry professionals and be taught by an industry expert.

Here’s what Ryan Mills of GD Mills Plumbing and Heating has to say:

“If you fancy a day off the tools and want to expand your knowledge of water treatment then book a day's training with @SentinelHQ. I went a few months back which was certainly worth it.”

- Ryan Mills, GD Mills Plumbing & Heating

When you attend, you have the opportunity to become a Sentinel Certified partner, which gives you access to exclusive perks, including:

  • Earning your Sentinel Certified status and connecting with other like-minded engineers
  • A free training pack worth over £20 (RRP)
  • Marketing and social media support for you and your business once you’re Sentinel Certified

Not able to travel to Sentinel HQ?

No problem. Not only do we offer training at the Welcome Centre (based at Daresbury Park, Warrington) but we’ve also partnered up with Worcester Bosch to deliver training across 3 other centres throughout the UK. By increasing the number of centres in which we can deliver the training, we can make our water treatment training accessible to more engineers across the UK.
